Pizza, Kebab and Chips – the Taste of Victory

Since visiting Amsterdam at the weekend, it’s been full concentration on the job in hand for us Boro boys as we prepare for the back end of our trip.

And after an intense few days on the training ground, game day finally arrived. Amongst other reasons, we all enjoy match days for the lie-ins we get, and a 12 o’clock start was a treat! After our tasty-as-ever pre-match meal, we headed for Germany to play VFL Bochum.

We played in very slippery conditions as it had been raining all morning, making it difficult for both sides to get the ball moving along the deck. It was no surprise then that the first half ended goalless, with neither team really threatening at all.

After the break, we tried to up the tempo, moving the ball quicker and pressing higher up the pitch. And we got our rewards as we notched two second half goals to seal our second 2-0 win of the trip. Although it took us a while to get in front, I thought it was a fair reflection on the game.

We were in high spirits for the journey back to the Netherlands, and just when we thought it couldn’t get any better, we were treated to a fantastic menu on our return. Pizza or kebab and chips – what a trip this is – just don’t tell the club dietician!
