Day 43 – 100 Mph Save!

Came in on Friday after a nice day off. Some of the lads had got decent results, some fared not so well. I got 4 A’s 2 B’s and 3 C’s so I was well chuffed with that. We went out and had some 6-a-sides in the morning – once again fiercely competitive. After about an hour of action we were back inside for dinner.

We had no match this week for some odd reason. Why they start the season and then have a week break afterwards is beyond me so the coaches organised a game between us. In the very first minute my team was behind. Aaron McCarthy scored a great header, which beat me at full stretch. Then after this came a very bizarre moment. Mike Aspin crossed in from the right and first year pro Dylan Adams tried to clear. He failed and volleyed the ball from about 5 yards away flush into my face at what seemed like a hundred miles per hour. It was a great save! Unfortunately the ball then hit Dylan and went in for an own goal. That was the least of my worries, as I didn’t have any idea where I was for about 30 seconds.

The game ended up being 3-1 to the other team. Michael Conchie scored a good goal past me but I was very pleased with how I did. I played well and made some decent stops. I didn’t really have a lot to do in the second half. It was just nice to get some game time under my belt again.
