Day 13 – Pre-Season Victory

Woke up morning of the match and couldn’t wait for it, we did a light training session in the morning just to get loose and we went over to Myerscough college for the game at about half 12. Carlisle were staying on the college campus so that’s why the game was held there. We were 3-0 up at half time thanks to goals from Aaron McCarthy, Nathan Fairhurst and a French trialist Allasan who is basically just an absolute monster of a guy. The first years (myself included) all came on as half time subs and the game eventually finished up 3-1 with their goal coming via a corner. A bit of loose marking and a header from about 8 yards out right into the corner gave me no chance.

I was very pleased with my performance; I came off my line well on a number of occasions and made one very good 1 on 1 save. If it had gone in it would have been 3-2 and created a nervy ending to the game. But we pretty much dominated the second half as well as the first and should of got a couple more goals. The atmosphere after the game was great obviously, everyone was chuffed to get a win under our belts, even though it was just a friendly and even though the result didn’t matter it was a nice start. Meanwhile Dom came on in the second half against Everton and did really well. He was kacking his pants with nerves before hand, as I would be doing, but it didn’t show one bit.
