Biggest Game of the Season So Far

Hello readers,

On Saturday we played our first league game back after the break against Spoland Vannas. Before kick-off they were one point ahead of us and tied for first in the league. Taking that into account, this was by far the biggest game of the season to date and we knew we all needed to be at our best to win.

Fortunately, we got the result we needed and deserved and are now two points ahead of Spoland Vannas in the league. We won the game 5-1 and were the better team for the large majority of the game. We went in at half time 2-0 up, full of confidence and knowing if we kept a clean sheet we would win the game. An early goal in the second half gave us a good start, and we were well on our way to three points.

It was 24 degrees on Saturday, and normally I wouldn’t have any complaints but it wasn’t ideal conditions for 90 minutes of football. In such hot conditions we were allowed to keep the ball with minimal pressure and run the clock down.

Though Saturdays result has put us back in the running to win the league, we are now entering the busiest period of our season. We have six games in August, starting with Brunflo away on Saturday, and five more tough games which will have a massive impact on where we finish come the end of September.

In addition, we’ve also in the last week played a quarter-final and a semi-final in a regional cup. We are now through to the final against a division one team, which everyone is excited about because it will be a good test for us. The final of the cup is on the 11 September so we can now solely focus on the league and hopefully pick up as many points as possible.
