An Unexpected Change

We’ve spent the past week focusing on the Youth Cup. A series of friendlies had been organised leading up to the game.

We were due to play Dulwich Hamlet – a team that we haven’t really seen play and don’t know much about. They’re not full time so we had a friendly against Gateshead College to get an idea of the style of football that they might play.

We know they’re physical, so we’ve been spending quite some time in the gym. Having said that, we’re not really worried about them as we look good, enthusiastic in training and we’re playing good football at the moment.

The only set back really has been the snow, which caused a delay on the Youth Cup game. We were awaiting confirmation, the day before we were meant to travel down, and we all got the call around 6pm saying it was off.

We were all disappointed but reported the next day for training, and just got on with it. Its been rescheduled for 6th January so fingers crossed the snow takes it easy.

The Club has been surrounded by the media due to the unexpected change of Manager. It all came as a surprise to all of us, and we all wish Chris all the best for the future.

It just goes to show how quick things can change in this profession, but that’s football and we’ve just got to get on with it, wish the new manager all the best, and hopefully I’ll get an opportunity to work with him soon.
