Vale Release Eight From Current Squad

Port Vale have announced that eight of their current squad of players will not be offered new contracts for next season.

James Lawrie, Simon Richman, Danny Edwards, Daniel Lloyd-Weston, Luke Prosser, Ross Davidson and Danny Glover are all released after previously progressing through Vale’s Youth system in to the first team squad, while midfielder Dave Howland also leaves the Club.

Lawrie and Lloyd-Weston’s release may come as a shock to many with both players having trialled at Premier League Clubs in the last 12 months.

19 year old striker Lawrie was tipped to have a big future in the game having already received Northern Ireland recognition at senior international level.

The youngster, who has made four substitute appearances for the Valiants this season, spent time on trial at Premier League Club Everton last summer and has recently returned from a loan spell at non-league side Kidderminster.

His team-mate, goalkeeper, Lloyd-Weston had a two game trial at Premier League Champions, Manchester United earlier this term but has since struggled to get past Joe Anyon and Chris Martin in the Vale Park pecking order for the No. 1 jersey.
