Training and Development Course for Club Staff

LFE has announced the next date for training of Football League Club Youth staff. The L20 Expert Witness Training will be delivered at the end of January.

Following the highly successful completion of the recent L20 course for coaching staff, it has been decided to run an additional course for the small number of Clubs which have experienced staff changes in 2007 and Clubs that wish to train and qualify staff to act as expert witnesses.

A letter detailing the course has been sent out to all Clubs along with reply forms which should be returned to LFE as soon as possible.

Aims of the Course
Expert witness training takes coaches/staff through the steps of how to plan, observe, give feedback and record what they have seen in the logbook.

The L20 is currently the minimum qualification required by technical/coaching staff to assess the Apprentice’s logbook.

Who Should Attend
This course is primarily aimed at Football League Club technical/coaching and support staff who are involved with the assessment of Apprenticeship players.

When Does the Course Take Place
LFE will be conducting the initial Expert Witness (L20) training day on:

  • Initial Training Day – Monday 28th January 2008 @ Stoke City Football Club

In addition to this there will be a further half-day portfolio progress support meeting:

  • Progress Meeting – if required to be held within six weeks of the Initial Training. Group to negotiate date and venue with tutor on Initial Training day.

Plus a final submission, review and checking of the candidate’s portfolio session:

*(list)Final Meeting – submission of portfolio of evidence, date and venue to be negotiated with tutor by the group on Progress Meeting day.

Places for this course are limited to 15 and priority will be given to those Clubs which do not have a qualified L20 assessor, with the remaining places being allocated on a first come first served basis.

Please return completed forms to LFE by Tuesday 22nd January 2008.

Course details together with an itinerary for the initial expert witness training will be forwarded to successful applicants upon receipt of a completed application form.
