Regan Poole is on the verge of a move to Manchester United after the Premier League giants agreed a fee with League Two club Newport County.
The 17-year-old apprentice is on his way to Carrington for a medical after Newport reportedly accepted an initial offer of £100,000, that with add-ons could potentially rise to £400,000 based on appearances.
The talented defender, who was shortlisted for the 2015 Football League Apprentice of the Year award for League Two, has already had trials at United and Liverpool, while Hull are thought to have made an offer for the player over the last week.
Poole has made 15 league appearances since making his senior debut against Shrewsbury last September, becoming Newport’s youngest ever player at the age of 16 years and 94 days.
