Preston North End quartet Danny Devine, Neil Dougan, Scott Davidson and Seanan Clucas have been called up to a Northern Ireland Under-18 training squad which will assemble at Lilleshall at the end of the month.
While midfielders Dougan, Davidson and Clucas have already featured at this level it is defender Devine’s first call up.
Speaking about the call up’s North End’s Head of Youth Dean Ramsdale said:
“The boys thoroughly deserve the call up. They’ve all been fantastic so far this season.”
“This is Danny’s first time with the squad, so we’re especially pleased for him. Neil and Scott are more experienced at this level. Their performances have been really strong.”
North End’s youngster’s currently top the Youth Alliance North West Conference on goal difference but face a tough trip to Sunderland in the Fourth Round of the FA Youth Cup.
Ramsdale added: “All the boys have performed extremely well so far this campaign.”
“Most of the lads have stepped up and played some Reserve team football, and their fitness has been high throughout. Now it’s about knuckling down and working hard for the rest of the year.”
“The management will have some tough decisions to make at the end of the season when we decide who will get professional contracts.”
