Calver Heads To Clarence Park

Craig Calver

Southend United’s young striker Craig Calver has joined Blue Square South Club St Albans City on one month loan.

Calver signed a one-year development contract with the Shrimpers at the end of last season following his Apprenticeship but is now heading to Clarence Park as part of his development.

And Blues Youth team Manager Ricky Duncan will enhance Calver’s game. Speaking to the Club’s official website, Duncan said:

“This loan move is all part of Craig’s development, he has trained with the first-team in pre-season and with reserve games not getting into full flow yet it is a chance for him to play football.”

“He was our top goalscorer in the Youth team last season and if he gets chances at St Albans he will hopefully pick up where he left off.”

Calver will link up with ex-Southend United midfielder Luke Thurlbourne, who joined City after being released at Roots Hall last season.
