Eight great goals feature in the second instalment of League Football Education’s Goal of the Month in 2016-17.

Showcasing the cream of the crop from Under-18 Academy football, this month’s competition is as competitive as ever. It includes two outrageous efforts from near the halfway line. With Carlisle’s Max Cowburn and Wrexham defender Olly Marx both producing strikes reminiscent of David Beckham’s wonderful effort at Wimbledon 20 years ago.

Derby’s Henry Wise, Hull right-back Stephen Akbas and Hartlepool’s Josh Hawkes also catch the eye with stunning volleyed finishes.

While Harry Benns (Port Vale), Malachi Napa (Oxford United) and Sam Nombe (MK Dons) make up the shortlist.

The shortlist:

  • Henry Wise, Everton v DERBY COUNTY #LFEGOALA
  • Josh Hawkes, Carlisle Utd v HARTLEPOOL UTD #LFEGOALB
  • Harry Benns, PORT VALE v Notts County #LFEGOALC
