Goal Of The Month - September 2011

By: Steve Sutcliffe | In: Goal of the Month 2011

Goal of the Month is back with eight fabulous strikes taken from games across The Football League Youth Alliance and Premier Academy Leagues during the month of September.

Each month clubs participating in these Leagues submit their best goals to LFE who then select a shortlist of goals to go to a public vote. The winning strike last month was Goal C, Elan Gordon’s stunning effort for Bristol City against Stoke City on 20 August.

And now it’s time to go to the public vote once again with some more fantastic finishes. The contenders for September are as follows:

  • GOAL A: Dominic Samuel, Reading v Southampton
  • GOAL B: Sam Patterson, Crewe Alexandra v Barnsley
  • GOAL C: Luke Hacker, Stevenage v Brentford
  • GOAL D: Ashley Harris, Portsmouth v MK Dons
  • GOAL E: Jordan Clark, Liverpool v Barnsley
  • GOAL F: Dominic Thorley, Stockport County v Port Vale
  • GOAL G: Tom Platt, York City v Notts County
  • GOAL H: Alex Russell, Stockport County v Port Vale

LFE Chief Executive, Alan Sykes commented:

“The quality of goals on display is a great advertisement of the work being conducted at Football League Clubs to develop the players of tomorrow. Judging by the standard of entries that we have once again received it is going to be yet another close fought competition.”
