Six great goals get League Football Education’s Goal of the Month competition underway for 2016-17.

Featuring the cream of the crop from the Academy Leagues, this month’s competition is headlined by Derby County forward Adam Davie.

His unerring drive may not have been enough to prevent the Rams from falling to defeat at Blackburn but it is good enough to stand-out as one of the most eye catching goals in the opening weeks of the new campaign.

He’s joined on LFE’s shortlist by Stevenage duo Ben Wilmot and Claudio Ofosu as well as Huddersfield’s Cedwyn Scott, MK Dons striker Sam Nombe and Nottingham Forest frontman Virgil Gomis:

The shortlist:

  • Adam Davie, Blackburn v DERBY COUNTY #LFEGOALA
  • Ben Wilmot, STEVENAGE v Peterborough Utd #LFEGOALB
  • Claudio Ofosu, Barnet v STEVENAGE #LFEGOALC
  • Cedwyn Scott, Bristol City v HUDDERSFIELD TOWN #LFEGOALD
  • Sam Nombe, Peterborough Utd v MK DONS #LFEGOALE
  • Virgil Gomis, NOTTINGHAM FOREST v Ipswich Town #LFEGOALF

Voting will remain open until noon on 6 October so vote for your favourite goal via our online poll or via Twitter using the hashtags provided.
