League Football Education’s Goal of the Month contest rounds up this season’s action in the academy leagues and acts as a forerunner to next week’s Goal of the Season competition.

Charlton and Plymouth lead the way with two players each on the eight-man shortlist. Ademola Lookman’s fine solo goal and Josh Umerah’s stupendous strike are the Addicks entrants.

Ben Steer’s blast and Louis Rowley’s comprehensive finish come from the Pilgrims.

The contenders in full are:

  • Daniel Ramsey, SHEFFIELD UNITED v Birmingham City
  • Ben Steer, Swindon Town v PLYMOUTH ARGYLE
  • Cameron Gill, EXETER CITY v Watford
  • Ademola Lookman, Coventry City v CHARLTON ATHLETIC
  • Josh Umerah, CHARLTON ATHLETIC v Nottingham Forest
  • Isaac Galliford, LUTON TOWN v Gillingham
  • Jack Boyle, Birmingham City v Huddersfield Town

LFE Chief Executive Alan Sykes said: “As ever there are a number of exceptional goals included on this shortlist.

This competition remains popular and is a great advertisement of the work that is going on to develop young players at Football League clubs.”

Voting will remain open until 5pm on 27 May.
