Strong Performance To Earn Three Points

The last time I wrote, I mentioned the tough fixture we had coming up against Norwich City.

They did indeed prove to be tough visitors, but a visit that all of the lads were capable of handling because we ended up winning the game 2-1 with a real strong and steady performance, apart from an opening ten minute spell that saw us concede a goal from a corner.

Callum Thomson, who hasn’t appeared much in the U18’s yet this year came up for a corner taken by myself to power in a header. We followed this up with a winner late on with a very composed penalty taken by a trialist who nearly broke a sweat taking it!

The following week we travelled to Ipswich still on an unbeaten run, however we had been without a game for a couple of weeks so we had to keep our focus. In all honesty, we didn’t really perform as well as previous weeks and lost the game 3-1 with a late consolation goal from Amarii Bell who put the ball straight in the top bins.

We will brush ourselves off and go again this weekend against a very tough Crystal Palace side that are always hard to beat. I will write again early next week to tell you about the game because hopefully the lads and I will be off on a very long flight this time next week so there may be a slight pause after the next blog.

More details on that trip to come in the next edition when hopefully all will be confirmed!
